Opportunities at Firehouse

FIREHOUSE LADDER APPRENTICESHIP

Firehouse Theatre is assembling a team of highly motivated and collaborative individuals who are interested in joining our Firehouse Ladder Program. Apprentices have opportunities to learn and work across production, performance, and management based on each participant's interests and Firehouse's production needs.

Expectations and schedule will be agreed on before beginning the program. Work hours are flexible and based on the needs of production, but expected to fall within 10-20 hours per week, for a period of at least one month. The Ladder Program is an unpaid educational opportunity. Apprentices must arrange and cover their own housing and travel expenses, as well as any college credit that may be available.

To apply please submit the following materials in a single PDF document: A current resume and a cover letter (a) introducing yourself, (b) stating your specific area of interest, (c) explaining why you think you'd be a good fit for Firehouse's Ladder Program, and (d) your schedule/availability.

Please submit all materials or questions to evial@firehousetheatre.org

Play Submissions

  • Firehouse annually seeks a diverse roster of adventurous, thought-provoking writers whose plays reveal untold experiences, allow us to look at everyday life through a new lens, or allow us to experience the artform in a new and surprising way.

  • Firehouse will consider plays for Mainstage production and/or our new play development opportunities. While Firehouse will not premiere every play we accept into our new play program, please only submit for development if you are open to the possibility of Firehouse premiering the work at a later date.

  • Firehouse accepts submissions directly from playwrights and /or from agents.

    • Please submit a completed draft of your play, your resume or CV, and a brief cover letter including:

      • A bit about you and your artistic history

      • Why you are interested in working with The Firehouse

      • What you are seeking (production or development)

      • A brief synopsis of your play and when/where the play has been previously developed/produced.

      • A character / casting breakdown of your play

  • Please send submissions to playsubmissions@firehousetheatre.org. Your submission may be reviewed by Firehouse Artistic Staff, or a member of our New Play Selection committee.

Firehouse is committed to reading and responding to every project submitted to us. Given the volume of projects submitted, we cannot provide a timeframe for response. Please do not send follow up emails.
