Firehouse Theatre Project

The Hottest Ticket in Town

Founded in 1993, The Firehouse Theatre Project produces contemporary theater of the United States in an authentic urban space - the 101-year-old former Station House #10 of the Richmond Fire Department.

FTP's presentation of recent Off-Broadway shows and original works, through main stage productions, readings, and the annual Festival of New American Plays, has brought to Richmond audiences a New York City black box theater experience - but at far lower ticket prices and with greater emphasis on the actor.

Auditions Set for New Core Improvisation Company

posted on December 15, 2009 | Permanent link

imageThe Firehouse Theatre will hold a second and final round of auditions for its new core Improvisation Company at the theatre, 1609 W. Broad St., on Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 7-9 p.m.

This company will perform shows scripted from original material and improvised rehearsal, similar to The Annoyance in Chicago. Strong improvisational skills are a must. Singing is a plus, but not required. Please bring a headshot and resume. Those auditioning will be asked to improvise in groups with given scenarios. If singing, bring sheet music in correct key. An accompanist will be provided. The core group will meet once a week beginning in February 2010, with a projected first show opening in September 2010. This is obviously a long term commitment. Schedule will include midnight shows. Actors will be paid for performances only.

Please contact Kim Jones Clark with any questions at 804-400-0911.

In his Nov. 10 review, Mr. Timberline says the cast and crew maintain a delicate tension consisting of volatility and moral traps. ”This Is How It Goes is not exactly pleasant, but it gets under your skin.”
