Firehouse Theatre is a thriving hub of creative activity, an artistic home, and a center for community engagement where new work is produced and performed.

In 1993 Fire Department’s Station House #10 was being decommissioned at the same time that five theatre artists – Bill Gordon, Anna Senechal Johnson, Harry Kollatz, Jr., Carol Piersol, and Janet Wilson – were looking for a space to put on a show.

Firehouse has premiered new plays, created and encouraged new work, hosted emerging and established artists from many disciplines, and has earned a reputation as an accessible and diverse space for performances of all kinds.

Land acknowledgment

Firehouse Theatre acknowledges that we gather on the traditional land of the Algonquin People of The Powhatan Chiefdom. We honor the land itself and are grateful to the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.
