And the Winner is…

It was a close race, but the audience spoke, and Tiny Bubbles by Richard Willett won First Place by a narrow margin over Pet Shop Days by John Busch during the Sixth Annual Festival of New American Plays, January 17 - 20. Willett’s story, a dark comedy about a middle-aged gay man galvanized into confronting his life choices through a series of intense and surreal dreams, garnered a cash prize of $1,000. Busch’s play about a young man’s quest to save a strip-mall pet shop from a corporate takeover won Second Place with a cash prize of $500.
Thanks to all who packed the house for the four nights of this year’s festival during the rainy, cold weather! They get better every year! More updates to come on these promising plays and playwrights.
