Audition Notice

Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal

imageDirector Billy-Christopher Maupin is seeking four to six actors to play teenagers for Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal at the Firehouse Theatre Project. An ethnically diverse cast is actively being sought. Production dates are Feb. 3-26, 2011. Rehearsals begin in on or around Jan. 3, 2011. Auditions will be held by appointment only on Sunday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.–noon and Monday, Sept. 27, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. To schedule an appointment, send an email to DSGauditions@firehousetheatre.org, including your name, phone number, preferred audition date, and which role you will be auditioning for. You will be contacted with a specific audition time and sides to prepare for the audition. Bring a headshot/resume and detailed schedule conflicts to the audition and be prepared to read from the script. All performers will be paid.

Character Breakdown:

- Matt (a germophobe and bully, CB’s best friend.)
- Beethoven (social outcast and victim of bullying; finds solace in his music.) (NOTE:  It is highly desirable [though not required] that this actor be able to proficiently play piano.)
- Tricia (a party girl.)
- Marcy (another party girl; Tricia’s sidekick.)

Seeking standbys for

- CB (the show’s protagonist, on a quest to answer an existential question.)
- CB’s Sister (CB’s little sister whose sense of self is ever-changing.)

*The roles of CB, CB’s Sister, Van, and Van’s Sister have been precast.

Adult Acting Classes

Tuesday Evening Acting Classes Start Sept. 14

Eight-week acting class begins Tuesday, Sept. 14, and adjourns on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Taught by Carol Piersol, founding artistic director of the Firehouse Theatre Project.

Cost is $160 for new students and $120 for returning students.

Sandra Clayton won a 2009 “Artsie” award for best ensemble acting from the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle for her part in Richmond Shakespeare‘s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ms. Clayton is a former acting student at the Firehouse under Founding Artistic Director Carol Piersol.
Woody Czelusta was one of two leads in an ensemble production of Ayn Rand’s The Night of January 16th at Sycamore Rouge in Petersburg. The play ran from July 17-Aug. 8.

Maurizio DeMaurizi has won a voice role in the On The Air Radio Players’ production of The Thin Man, March 3-4, 2009, at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.

Debbie Walton appears in her theatrical debut in the Chamberlayne Actor’s Theatre 2009 production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons!
Ron Karnes appeared in the Henley Street Theater’s production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull!
Stephanie Nightlinger recently ended a stint on stage in Chicago in a nine-month run of Awesome 80’s Prom!
Glenn Ryder and Prasad Tupe were featured in Sam Shephard’s The Late Henry Moss at the Firehouse Theatre!
Neil Sonenklar featured in A Shayna Maidel at the Jewish Community Center!
